Please join The Collaborating Center for Value-Based Practice for the Advanced Seminar in theorizing and discussing ‘Giving Uptake: Epistemological, Ethical, and Legal Considerations’ at St Catherine’s College, Oxford on November 27, 2019, 9.30-4.30 pm.

This one-day Advanced Seminar examines what it means to truly listen and respond appropriately to communicators. We will examine questions such as what counts as ‘appropriate’ responses, who decides this, and what enhances or impedes successful understanding and communication, whether in clinic, psychiatric hospital, or co-production. In particular, we will focus on experiences of service users, who often feel like they are not truly listened to and not taken seriously as knowers who can contribute to knowledge production.
