Healing, Personal Values and Narratives in Healthcare Open Meeting, 29th September, 1 – 6pm, Radcliffe Humanities, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Oxford OX2 6GG

With Samuel Shem

Organised by Andrew Papanikitas, this meeting aims to promote interdisciplinary discussion on a theme of healing, personal values and narratives in healthcare. We are particularly fortunate to involve Professor Stephen Bergman (Professor of medical humanities at New York University, who writes under the name Samuel Shem). He is an acclaimed author of several novels, plays and textbooks. His work exposes the potential moral challenges of the medical workplace and the connection between values, good relationships and healing.

The meeting will promote a discussion that includes local work involving patient narratives and the medical humanities in healthcare strategy and clinical education.
