What counts as successful co-creation? This talk approaches the question by treating co-creation as joint transformative action rather than transformative experience. It introduces three models—paradoxical, aspirational, and difficult—each identifying a different set of conditions under which co-creation can succeed. In cases from mental-health policy, practice, and research, these models help analyse modes of acting together through which participants transform both their shared practice and aspects of their own identities.
