Personality has long been a central theme in both philosophical reflection andpsychological inquiry. Yet, the disturbances of personality challenge our conceptual,clinical, and experiential understanding of personality functioning. The recent shift in the diagnosis of personality disorders – from categorical classification to dimensional conceptualization – fosters a reconsideration of fundamental questions about normality
in personality functioning or directions of treatment and development. At the same time,the increasing use of computational and AI-based tools in psychology and psychiatry raises new possibilities and questions for how we conceptualize, model, and engage with disturbances of personality.
This seminar seeks to open a dialogue between disciplines, examining how livedexperience-based insights, philosophical analyses, clinical perspectives, and computational or AI-informed approaches can illuminate the nature of personality and its disorders.
