Aesthetics in Mental Health Network (AiMH) – Meetings
AiMH works through networking between its members supported by regular meetings to share developing ideas and experience.
We have hold several Advanced Study Days and a larger conference between the Institute for Social Aesthetics of the Sigmund Freud University, Vienna, and the Collaborating Centre for Values-Based Practice, St Catherine’s College, Oxford.
We welcome proposals for meetings in members’ own organizations (see below, Future Meetings)

Inaugural Meeting: St Catherine’s College, Oxford – 13.06.14
The inaugural meeting of the Network took the form of an Advanced Studies Seminar that offered a forum for cross-disciplinary discussion and development of ideas on the role of aesthetics in mental health and social care
Aesthetics and Mental Health: St Catherine’s College, Oxford – 29.05.15
This seminar extended the themes developed in the first seminar with contributions from a range of further speakers working with aesthetics in various areas of health care.
Hospitality and Mental Health: Institute for Social Aesthetics and Mental Health, Sigmund-Freud-University Vienna – May 19th and Saturday May 20th 2017
This two-day conference built on the Berleant’s concept of social aesthetics to explore the role of ‘hospitality’ in mental health clinics.

Title: ‘Clinical Applications and Evaluation of Aesthetic Practices in Mental Health’
You are invited to submit abstracts for selection to address this title. (300 words maximum)
In this group, “aesthetic” refers to sense perception (from Greek origin) and arising imagination. Please define the way you use the term at the beginning of your abstract..
Some examples of issues that are relevant to the day are given below:
What is your experience of working with aesthetics in mental health and well-being? In relation to this how do you evaluate what you do?
What impact does your work have?
Do you use innovative, adapted or existing methods of evaluation?
How do you know what your outcomes are?Other related questions will be welcomed and considered….
