Asmat Islam’s primary research interests concern bioethics, research ethics, and ethics of emerging technologies in healthcare. She explores global health injustices and the distinct vulnerabilities of patients and human research subjects, as well as topics in applied ethics more broadly. Some of her recent research has appeared in the Journal of Religion and Health and Developing World Bioethics. Asmat Islam earned her Ph.D. in Healthcare Ethics from the Center for Global Health Ethics, Duquesne University, Pittsburgh and MA in Philosophy from the University of Nottingham, UK. She taught Ethics at Jagannath University and North South University, Dhaka over a decade.
