I am a retired GP with particular interest in mental health stemming from being father to a daughter with schizophrenia. From initial complaints about my daughter’s early experiences of care (mid 90s) I became involved in a radical service reform, contributing to the WHO Early Psychosis Declaration (2004) and jointly leading the National Early Intervention in Psychosis Programme (2004-10). Retiring in 2010, I remain committed within an international community (iphYs) to promoting an early intervention paradigm to address antecedent physical health risks and health inequalities which otherwise propel young people with psychosis towards poor health and premature death
