The Center for Health, Culture, and Society (CHCS) is dedicated to scaling up mental health services and research in Africa. CHCS serves as a clearing house that provides various information on mental health issues in Africa to interested parties. CHCS promotes linkages between African mental health professionals, their institutions, and their overseas counterparts. In addition, the center arranges for donations of medication, books, and other items. CHCS also provides for onsite and long distance lectures and collaborates on grant applications. CHCS also affords opportunities for trainees interested in global mental health and cultural psychiatry.
