I currently work as Head of Research at the University College of Osteopathy and am Project Leader for ‘OsteoMAP’ (the Osteopathy, Mindfulness and Acceptance Programme for patients with persistent pain). I qualified as an osteopath in 1979 and subsequently trained in social work and counselling to develop psychosocial healthcare skills. My Professional Doctorate (2017) focused on developing a clinical course to integrate 3rd wave CBT interventions with manual therapy, and included explicit values-based work. I am interested in exploring ways of working effectively with ‘embodied values’ as a means of educating practitioners and promoting patients’ resilience and wellbeing.
