Brief Description of Work: I am a doctoral student in medical anthropology, Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology, Oxford University. My thesis examines the promotion of patient agency in mental healthcare and potential barriers to this that arise from bureaucratic priorities and mechanisms. I am an honorary fellow, Department of Psychiatry, Oxford University and a lecturer and tutor in the anthropology of religion, Blackfriars Hall, Oxford University. I sit on a Clinical Ethics Advisory Group for Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and am a member of the board of editors of the Psychiatric Bulletin.
