Shima Tabatabai is currently working as a postdoctoral researcher in the field of developing a value-based model of progress for the medical education system in Iran. She has completed her Ph.D. in medical education with the first rank in Iran in Feb. 2016. Her Ph.D. thesis supported by Iranian academy of medical sciences and She Won the Best Ph.D. Thesis national prize in May 2017, (among more than 900 theses, reviewed in the National Library of Iran).  She focused on proposing the value-laden solutions for promoting medical education system in Iran. During 2010-2012, she has worked on the virtue-based and value-based medical education at the medical ethics research center. She has published over 100 articles in research journals and conferences and 2 scientific books. Also, she has a book in the field of value-based medical education and health care system in the context of Iran, under publication.
