I head the Unit for Social and Community Psychiatry, a research group located in the London Borough of Newham, which is also the WHO Collaborating Centre for Mental Health Services Development.In various roles in the UK and abroad, I am involved in both developing services and steering research activities in psychiatry. My research aims to advance a social paradigm to study mental health and focuses on understanding helpful relationships, developing novel therapeutic approaches and evaluating complex interventions in mental health care.
