Brief Description of Work: Launched in May 2013, TORCH provides an opportunity for Oxford’s humanities scholars to collaborate with researchers across disciplines and institutions; work with scholars across all stages of their academic careers; develop partnerships with public and private institutions; engage with wider audiences; and bring together academic research, creative industries, and the performing arts. TORCH supports a Knowledge Exchange project on Compassion in Healthcare, which is a collaboration between Dr Joshua Hordern and the Royal Society of Medicine Open Section, represented by the Open Section’s president, Dr Andrew Papanikitas.
